Today, March 22nd is World Water Day. This is an awareness day to bring attention to the importance of fresh and clean water for everyone around the world. The day also includes campaigns to raise money for water projects. Over the weekend we brought Brooklyn and her partner in most adventures, Maverick, to Time Square’s National Geographic’s Ocean Odyssey. We wanted to show them how incredible our oceans are, and the importance of keeping them clean. Although we’ve been there before, this place is so incredible we wanted to make a big impact on the kids, so visited this underwater adventure again.
During the underwater adventure the kids got really into the interactive experience, more so than when I brought Brooklyn alone. They loved interacting with the simulated sea lions which respond to your body movements. The kids turned the interaction into a little dance-off that way so cute.
They also loved the Kelp maze. They walked through it fairly easy but Brooklyn’s Dad got lost, they thought that was the funniest thing ever. If you pay attention, at the end a guide asks questions, if you get it right you can add a puzzle piece which you decorate on their wall. Maverick wrote ‘I Love The Sea’, an appropriate opinion after the underwater experience. To our surprise Brooklyn wrote ‘I Love Myself’…she’s quite a character.
When the kids were done interacting with all the incredible installations, they both asked if they could walk through the whole thing again. That’s how awesome this place is. Although the experience comes with what I consider a steep price, you can find deals on Groupon. In my opinion it’s worth the price, as the impact it had on the kids was lasting and so unique, I’ve never seen technology used like this. It’s a great experience for all ages.
