Tattly is known for their ever growing collection of awesomely designed temporary tattoos. Well, they’ve upped their temporary tattoo game and opened up a pop up store, Tattly Parlor. Everything about this limited engagement location brings the experience of a traditional parlor to life for the non permanent tattoo desiring customer. From the displays of flash art on their walls and in binders to their vintage barber’s chairs emulating professional tattoo chairs, Tattly nails this experience spot on.
This concept store is located inside The Invisible Dog Art Center in the Boerum Hill, Brooklyn, NY. As you walk up to the store the doors are decorated in traditional gold glass-gilded letters spelling Tattly Tattoo.
The authentic parlor experience continues as you walk into the store and meet the tattoo applicator artist who patiently lets you decide which designs you’d like. A cool asputnik chandelier and velvet couch make the setting as stylish as the creations you can pick through.
We had three kids in our party, Brooklyn, Oscar and Arlo ranging in ages from one to four years old. Temporary tattoos have been a mainstay in the lives of the preschoolers so they seemed to know immediately what was going on and reveled in the process of picking designs. The one year old seemed amused by the older two and was a good sport letting us decorate his arm in the whole minute it took to apply.
Hans the ‘artist’ was wonderful managing the kids and they happily cooperated with this gentle soul as he applied several different applications to Brooklyn and Oscar’s arms.
This whole interactive experience cost $20 but was priceless in ridiculous photos we took. I’m not sure if the kids had a better time or the adults by watching them. I’m bummed this shop is only temporary and closes Feb 28th. But we did learn they are investigating possibilities for a new store.
Their online presence is permanent and you can purchase their amazing designs at tattly.com. They are currently running a great sale, 40% off site-wide through February 25th, use code SPRING40.
They have a couple of exciting new products launching over the next two months, a set of Very Hungry Caterpillar tattoos, and a set of scented floral designs. I’ll be sure to keep an eye on this business. In the meantime I’m going to stock up on pinata filler for our next party.
